The Traditio Legis

As in other Traditio Legis images Christ hands "the keys to the kingdom" to St. Peter and a book representing scriptural authority to St. Paul. As in Byzantine images of those giving or receiving gifts from God or the Emperor, the saints have covered their hands with fine cloth to receive their gifts.
